Free Bonfire Night assembly for Years 7 to 11. The real story of the Gunpowder Plot, firework safety, the law and burns first aid, with editable slides, a full speaker script and tutor-time reflection.

Year group: KS3 and KS4 (Years 7 to 11) Best delivered: In the week before 5 November Duration: About 18 minutes, with a shorter 15-minute route included Tone: Warm, curious, calm and practical Assembly purpose This assembly tells the real story behind Bonfire Night, then gives pupils clear guidance for enjoying fireworks safely.

It begins with a simple question: every 5 November, millions of people light bonfires and fireworks, so what are we actually remembering?

The history unfolds as a story, from England in 1605 and the thirteen plotters to the anonymous letter, Guy Fawkes' discovery beneath Parliament and the tradition that followed.

The second half moves into practical safety.

It covers the heat of a sparkler, who is most often injured, the law for under-18s, the Firework Code, burns first aid and consideration for neighbours, pets and people who find fireworks frightening.

What is included - An editable 17-slide PowerPoint with Head of Year branding. - Full presenter notes embedded on every slide. - A separate speaker-script PDF with timings, preparation guidance and source links. - A shorter delivery route of about 15 minutes. - Adaptation notes for Years 7 and 8, Years 9 to 11 and sixth form. - An optional ten-minute tutor-time reflection within the speaker script. - Original illustrations, diagrams and two click reveals.
